James is a broadly trained geoscientist and science writer. Before joining UW-Madison, he worked for 18 years as an R&D scientist at Argonne National Laboratory, where he helped develop and participated in numerous large-scale, interdisciplinary projects. He holds an M.S. in Geology from Boston College and a Ph.D. in Geochemistry from Virginia Tech. In his role with the Hub, James draws on broad subject matter expertise and extensive proposal writing experience to support UW-Madison researchers in developing world-class sustainability science projects.
