The Office of Sustainability is seeking to support researchers wanting to submit sustainability-related topic ideas for a forthcoming 2016 National Science Foundation (NSF) Emerging Frontiers in Research and Innovation (EFRI) solicitation.
The NSF is looking for candidate topics related to emerging interdisciplinary fields not currently supported by NSF programs but with the potential to produce transformative results that address national needs or a grand challenge. The top ten submitters of candidate topics will be invited to present their ideas to inform internal deliberations of the NSF Directorate for Engineering on defining and selecting research topics for the 2016 EFRI solicitation. The topic submission deadline is Dec. 19, 2014.
The Office of Sustainability will support development of one-page topic submissions through the Sustainability Innovation in Research and Education-Major Extramural Initiative (SIRE-MEI) program. Contact Sabrina Bradshaw with questions or for more information.
