Donate your unwanted items Aug. 11-14
Moving Days is an opportunity to reduce waste by donating, re-homing or recycling unwanted items. During city moving days, the Office of Sustainability and WE CONSERVE are partnering with the City of Madison, Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Goodwill Industries and REthink Wisconsin to operate several donation stations outside downtown apartment buildings and on campus.
All donation locations will be open the following times:
- August 11, 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
- August 12, 1:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
- August 13, 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
- August 14, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Donate
St. Vincent de Paul and Goodwill will host donation areas at several downtown locations to accept clothes, shoes, books, kitchenware and other household items in good, usable condition. St. Vincent de Paul can also accept non-working electronics and appliances for recycling at Lot 45.
St. Vincent de Paul will accept donations at the following downtown locations. Anyone is welcome to bring items to these sites.
If you live in one of the following downtown apartment buildings, look for a Goodwill donation bin in your building. Please do not take items from the bins. These items are property of Goodwill and will be distributed to community members in need.

Donate & Take
The Office of Sustainability and WE CONSERVE will also manage Donate & Take stations, where students and community members can drop off items they do not want and browse other donations for wanted items, in an effort to minimize waste during the moving period. Acceptable items include clothing, furniture and other household items. This year, the Donate & Take stations will also accept non-perishable food items to give to the campus food pantry located on the 4th floor of the Student Activities Center.
Students and members of the community are welcome to take items from the following Donate & Take locations but are encouraged to do so respectfully and responsibly. These sites will be open through August 14.
E-waste
Electronic waste, or e-waste, can be recycled at Lot 45. Most small and large appliances that have cords or operate with batteries are considered e-waste. Examples of e-waste include computers, microwaves, blenders, lamps and cell phones.
