Join us at Sustainability Lunch HOUR to learn more student sustainability research and projects happening on campus. This session is a grab bag of sustainability research topics.

Nutrient recovery from wastewater

UW–Madison sophomore Grant Herrman will discuss his research on nutrient recovery from wastewater, which he has done in partnership with the Office of Sustainability through the SIRE-REU program.

Reducing carbon dioxide emissions from electric power plants

UW–Madison senior Kevin Etzel will share the work he did for an internship with Alliant Energy where he evaluated EPA plans for emissions management and researched ways to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from electric power plants.

Soil composition and climate change

UW–Madison junior Hannah Friedrich will present her research on how groundwater and soil texture affects plant growth, evapotransiration and soil moisture, which allows researchers to gain insights into how biophysical interactions may play out in years of drought or high precipitation.
