Building Guanxi: B2B Delegation in China
The University of Wisconsin-Madison is well known for its rich history of innovations that have brought new solutions to the world’s challenges, and Wisconsin companies are no different. In Coordination with the Division of International Studies and the Shanghai Innovation Office, the University of Wisconsin-Madison Office of Sustainability is leading a Workshop for the Minhang District Government of Shanghai, as well as business delegation meetings in both Shanghai and Ningbo, China. The Delegation will showcase unique business assets and build mutually beneficial relationships for attendees. The Workshop program will integrate the principles of the Chinese government 12th Five-Year Plan, which focuses heavily on environmental protection and sustainable energy consumption. By incorporating the government’s 12th Plan, the Workshop will provide a platform for businesses to highlight innovative solutions in their products, parts, technology and services.
In recent years, the UW Office of Sustainability has been working on developing a more sustainable UW-Madison campus. As such, we are researchingsustainability metrics such as water, energy, materials and costs, and developing best practices so that we can “walk the talk” from research and education to campus operations. Our best practices are those that can be shared and applied to other campuses, cities and communities, and private businesses anywhere in the world.
The Workshop will make a connection between our limited earth resources and our global impact related to sustainable urban environments including water resources, energy consumption and efficiencies, green buildings design and engineering, and innovative infrastructure programs.
The business Delegation will provide key leadership meetingsand matchmaking opportunities (June 16, 19-20) for businesses from both the US and China, facilitating the economic and commercial exchange between our two countries. The Workshop (June 17-18) will provide an additional platform for delegation businesses to discuss innovative solutions in their marketplace. The historical and industry-related site tours in Shanghai and Ningbo will allow attendees to experience the economics and culture of modern China.
Whether you are already exporting to China or you are new to exporting, this unique opportunity brings you closer to government officials in two key cities in China. Please take advantage of the Workshop, meetings and site tours to have a better understanding of how these international entities operate, and hopefully make valuable connections for your future business partnerships.
