EmPOWERing Youth for a Brighter Future is a climate justice-focused half-day public event geared toward college and high school-aged students. The event will focus on intergenerational connection, inspiration, and empowerment. It will include peer-facilitated small group discussions, a scavenger hunt of the Arboretum’s outdoor spaces and newly installed solar panels and energy-efficient lighting, casual networking/ tabling time, a shuttle bus to ferry folks between the UW–Madison campus and the Arboretum, and a snack. The event is free for all.

Transportation
- We will offer a free shuttle bus from the Memorial Union to the Arboretum Visitor Center and back. There will be two departure and return times; see the schedule below for details.
- Shuttle bus pick up and drop off will be on the Park Street side of the Memorial Union by the entrance to the Union Theater, across the street from Helen C. White.
- We will offer a free 2-Ride Madison Metro bus pass to anyone who requests it during registration so that you can get to the Memorial Union to ride the shuttle bus.
- If you don’t plan to take the shuttle bus, we encourage biking and carpooling. Here are directions for Getting to the Arboretum.

Registration, outdoor exploration, & networking time - 1:30 – 1:45pm
Opening remarks - 1:45 – 4:20pm
Three 45-minute sessions in small groups, rotating through discussions, a scavenger hunt, and casual time to learn about student and community organizations and eat a snack - 4:20 – 4:30pm
Conclusion - 4:35pm
